There’s a gut-wrenching heartbreak in knowing love after loss.

The expectation that something will go wrong because you love them so much.

As a Mum, as a parent, there’s an anxiety that exists from the minute you know that baby’s taken up renting a room in your tum.

From that minute on they’ve taken up a whole lot of space in your giant sized heart too.

And the second they arrive, from that first moment when you hold them close, nothing seems scarier than not being by their side for every second of their life.

When you’ve experienced loss, there’s a rip-roaring fear that surfaces too. What if? What if? What if something goes wrong?

Well, it’s fair to say, that is part of being a Mum, Dad, or any caregiver, and Oh my child I wish that feeling would go.

But it can’t,

because I love you so.

I love you to the stars.

I love you to the moon and back.

I love you to the moon and back and back again.

Because Oh my child, I would move the universe for you if I could.

With that said, there is one thing that will bring me a little peace instead.

And that is, that you know, that my love will follow you wherever you go.

That my steps will follow in your awesome shadow.

That my heart will beat right alongside yours.
