How many teddy’s do you have? I’m guessing many will say none. And I’m hoping some will say one (or more.)
Well, I have two. My first therapist (from 3 years ago), suggested I buy a teddy to help heal my inner child, ‘little me’, and make her feel safe. This is the bear on the right, in the below picture. I cuddled it at night for a long time, it helped a lot.
For Christmas last year my husband bought me the teddy on the left, we were in a shop and I fell in love with it. That’s the one I’ve been cuddling at night since he gifted it to me. It’s helped enormously.

Although as adults, as grown ups, we may think a teddy is unnecessary, it’s ‘childish’, or maybe even embarrassing to have as a grown woman or man. But, we all still have a little child inside us.
There’s a reason why we might love colouring, or an outdoor adventure like at Center Parcs, or building with Lego. They are all fun activities to the inner child that lives within us.
We’ve all seen those birthday cards that say ‘You are never too old to grow up’. But maybe we don’t need do? Maybe honouring the inner child of us is the secret to happiness?
Especially if our inner child is fragile or broken from a trauma experienced early on in life. Perhaps cuddling a teddy bear could begin to help mend a little broken shard of our hearts?
When I made my bed recently, I decided to arrange the teddy’s just like I would my children’s. Because I acknowledge I’m still a little girl at heart too, who will heal from these little touches of love. And as I arranged them on the pillow I thought; doesn’t little me look happy, now big me has my arms wrapped firmly around her ❤️
Remember you are never too old to buy yourself a teddy bear 🧸
I’d love to know how you honour your inner child? Hit me with your ideas. I feel this will play a big part in how I continue to heal 🫶
